DJs should come with a mute button
July 10, 2009
You know that one song…the song that hits you like a torpedo right when you break up with someone, well that song for me was No Air by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown.
I remember being in Club Quake (do you guys even remember that club) with my friends and thankfully the designated driver cause I was well primed, plastered and painting myself yellow (i was drinking Carib…i think) when the dj decided to “slow it dow” for all the “couples”. Well I damn well wasn’t one and was well and truly upset as to why I was no longer in couple’sville. Papa yo, I hold onto my friend and cry and cry and cry …and then sat down on the floor bawling for this whole song. Am i ashamed? Nah, to this day i recall that story and laugh my ass off (even though i had nothing to laugh about then and the subsequent months following).
The other song that really triggered my anger/desolation was some curtain song by Rihanna. Nothing could make me run faster than flash to turn the radio station or quickly start humming the theme to the old Batman shows (dunnnu nnunuhujuukannddiihjakfhjfabf…something so….BATMAN!).
But this post is not about that..
It’s about how, today, while sitting on the train, the song It’s Over by Jesse McCartney came on.
The one line that had my mouth creeping up to my hair line was:
I used to be trippin’ over missin’ you but I’m not anymore
Cause it never felt so true.
I highlighted this personal topic cause I had great difficulty overcoming this relationship, not only because of the nature of the breakup but also additional circumstances that just made things worse.

Everything takes time… Love songs are sappy, but they connect so well when you are feeling the emotions. Ne-Yo songs always do that for me

“Everything takes time” …..indeed it does. It’s a difficult period going through the motions to allow time to heal our wounds but eventually, there is a end to the dark tunnel. And I’m certainly coming up to some daylight
